50/50 Book Release

the book detailing the Endurance 50/50 presented by North Face as completed by Dean Karnazes was just released a couple days ago (for those who dont know, this book dicusses endurance from the point of view of his running of 50 marathons in 50 states in 50 days)...of course I bought it and dove right in...

this will be the first book review that i'll do as part of allowing everyone to be a part of another important hobby of mine...reading....so be on the lookout

Dirty Red Racing Team

so I am going to be representing Dirty Red on their racing team for the 2008-2009 season. The race schedule so far is below. Catching up.........12 Hour Run for St Jude

So, I need to continue to catch up on things going on with my running adventures.

First, my main run this year is focused at a 12 Hour Charity Run in Woodfield, OH. The run is designed to have all runners raise money for either the local children's hospital or a children's hospital of their choice. It is the 31st year of the race I think. They limit the field to 25 or 30 runners who run for 12 hours on a 1 mile loop in downtown Woodsfield.

I chose to do St Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN. I started with a $1000.00 dollar goal and have closed in on it fairly quickly, so I upped my goal to $1,500. Thanks to everyone who has supported me so far on this venture.

Rundure 8 Hour Ultra - Crown Point, IN

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I have been given the go ahead to hold an 8 hour timed ultra in the Lake County Fairgrounds in Crown Point, IN. I haven't worked out all of the details yet, but here are some points so far:

1. There will be a 8 Hour Ultra on 1.5 mile paved loop through fairgrounds
2. There will be a 1.5 mile sprint race just prior to the start of the Ultra.
3. There will be a relay division for teams of 2-3.
4. Proceeds will benefit local charities directly or through Rundure Foundation (if set up by then)
5. More to come.....including sponsors, special invites, promos, etc....

I want to be able to bring ultrarunning to NW Indiana as well as open up this race for people of all distances by having the sprint option and relay. Not to mention, an 8 hour race allows for ample time for someone to get a Marathon in without going to Chicago.

Endurance 50 Movie

i went to the premier of the Endurance 50 movie last week. It was great. Dean did the 50 marathons in 50 states in 50 days back in 2006 and I ran with him in Grand Rapids during his journey. check the pic.

the beginning and the Rundure 8 Hour

So, here is my blog. I had another one, that I didn't do anything on or tell anyone about, so I decided to start a new one. I guess the main reason for the blog will be for my adventures in ultrarunning and other endurance adventures.

Also, this will be the site for the Rundure 8 Hour Ultra to take place in fall of 2009 at the Lake County Fairgrounds....stay tuned for details.
